Guess it depends on how you define things such as humble, and stylish. I think my house is humble, stylish and green, but not sure if everyone would agree. 2798 sq ft of conditioned space, 2 story 1399/floor. Top floor (main floor) is a custom designed modular, ground floor (at level basement) is stick built on an FPSF and though it is electrified and plumbed for future finishing, it is only completed to unfinished sheetrock. 5 star plus eStar rating, heading for an NAHB Gold rating. Under $75 a square foot including house, septic, electric and water, all appliances, furniture, furnishings etc. - already had the land and a water line from the well we teed into, along with a driveway, which we restoned. I GCed it, and did significant tasks, all the design work etc. Been working on it for 21 months, and have been living in it since the end of Sep, though even the main floor is not quite finished - still a bit of sheetrock, and quite a bit of painting to do. Also still building pull outs for my kitchen cabinets, bookcases and other bits and pieces. Will build decks next year (already included in the $75/ft2 price) but have plans for additional work in Phase III which will take the ft2 prices up to around $80./ft2 -Rosalinda |
