I have been researching on how to best waterproof the poured concrete foundation walls of my soon to be built house. I am torn on what would be the best and most cost effective way to do this myself.

Option #1 would be to hand brush 2 coats of UGL drylok masonry latex waterproofer. At a cost of approx. $1500 to do it myself. With 9' bsmt walls and a large perimeter this would take many days to accomplish.

Option #2 is to install a rubberized membrane. Does anyone have any suggestions on some good products like this to use. The bit of research i've done online it looks like this would be an easier/quicker installation as it looks like it could be rolled instead of hand painted, and it could be done in hours instead of days.

Any other recommendations or suggestions? Would it also be necessary to install a dimpled membrane over the waterproofing product. I also plan to install 2" exterior eps foam then backfill if that makes a difference.

There is a lot of products out there that can be rolled on, and many peal and stick membranes. More important than what you use is how you use it. Glad to hear you are being redundant with your membranes. Type of back-fill material makes a difference too, use a well draining material if in question.

What about spray on EPDM it will actually pond water indefinitely. It was recently discussed on this forum. Material costs were $1.25 per foot as I recall and could be rolled on with a standard paint rollers or sprayed with equipment.

Another inexpensive alternative is to use recycled billboards. They are 100 mills PVC UV coated. Again it has a very long life buried.
