Well, I just had my first propane fill since it was installed last June, (it was down to 40%). I have been wondering how our new "lake/retirement" home was performing, energy wise.

It is constructed of Silver Fox ICF, with triple glazing in all windows and doors. We are only there on weekends during the winter months so I keep thermostat at 60F during weekdays and turn it up to 73F for weekends.
I have a Wi-Fi thermostat, so it's warm when we arrive. I should mention we are approx. 2 hrs NE of Toronto Canada, the house faces the south taking advantage of the sun during the odd sunny day.
Suffice to say I was happy to see the bill, 700 liters used from last June 1st. The usage includes a 14Kw gen that uses min 7L/month for exercising (7Lx8mon=56L), our BBQ which we use A LOT during the summer
and the 40KBTu FAG furnace. The price/L was $0.59 for a total of $413 for over 8 months use. We also have LED lighting installed throughout, so, spending a little more up front for ICF and paying close attention to air sealing, was well worth it!
I feel I have built a very energy efficient 2nd home. Now to have an Energy Audit done this spring to confirm.

Thanks to everyone for the GREAT advice and building tips on this site!
