Just wanted to give an update on my search for engineered wall panels and roof trusses. None of the companies I called could give a ball park price per square or anything but did say expect to pay 10-20 percent more than stick framing. Also said get the architectural drawings and they will engineer the complete structure so this is something that cost also and is included in their bid, including the foundation. We have a client now that has a large lot and is interested in this type of construction as well. He's still working with the architect on the design so we hope to be getting the permits going soon.

They don't need to engineer the job, your architect can do that for less$, I worked with two that did it with me at no cost working with my architect.

Their drawings will not likely have an engineers stamp from your home state.

The companies I spoke with quote $1 a sq ft of panels for the drawings you're referring to, not needed IMO

You can get SIPS for under $5 a sq including the roof w/o trusses.

Call Fisher Sips ask for Mike

The architect can produce the engineered blue prints but at an added cost. The company's I called said they have to engineer for the engineered wall panels and roof trusses. So I'd rather not have my clients pay double for the engineered blue prints.

I haven't had a client here in texas or south carolina ask for a sips home. I can't push a product that people don't want. I understand that they maybe better but if a client ask me to build a home with hardie plank siding and I put vinyl, I'd have a law suit and eat the cost.

I'm limited on what's available locally as shipping cost can push cost even higher.

I'm not here debating what kind of construction is better or not, as a builder, the customer is always right. If this client asked me to build a sips home, I'd be asking for your help and resources. But I haven't been asked for that and people who know what they want are set on what they want.

If frieght is an issue I'm sure I have plant producing EZ SIPS near you. A low-cost alternative to make your own SIP like panels right on the jobsite. And leave the inner wall face open with snap away channels for plumbing / wiring.

Are you paying for all this advertising?

This is not alternative to REAL Sips panels it it best called a wannabee Sips at a higher cost per sq,

Rich you really should stop miss representing the product.
