I have an ICF home with steel infrastructure and I have been in it for 3 years. Unbelievably great home, great construction, will never again own a wooden framed homeĀ (if I can help it). But I have two rooms in the basement (partially underground), and when you are down there and it is quiet, you can hear a "thumping" sound coming from the walls. Sounds like the popping that a new car makes when you turn it off and the engine/exhaust is cooling off, but this is a very deep bass sound. Not really loud, but it is noticeable. Does anyone know where this sound is coming from? It occurrs at regular intervals, and I notice it more when it is getting really cold at night. Could it be the concrete/rebar responding to cold/heat stress? I really just want to know what it is. I'm sure it's normal, but I wanted to know if anyone else experienced this. |
