I am studying on ICF building systems. Especially I am looking for their specifications concerning fire safety.
I read the approvals of different manufacturers. Almost all of them were recognized as Type V construction (I talk about IBC types). In this situation, there will be a considerable limitations in the high of building.

My question is why are they categorized as Type V, when the EPS is protected with thermal barrier. I like also to know the parameters that have a role in the Fire Resistance of the syste. For instance do you know any document, which deals with installation opens, continuity of EPS between units or levels, system penetrations, needed fire stops, etc.

Any advise is highly appreciated.

Bakhtiyari,

That is a good question, I have seen several fire resistive and noncombustible buildings that incorporated ICF in their design.

I will have to do some investigation.
