I just recieved my drawing for my new house the Enginner spec logix or equal. My question is he shows the last course being a tapered top but do the 90 & 45's come with a tapered top if not what is done here?

You can make almost any block into a taper top block if the need arrises. Take a look at the factory block and copy it with a saw or hot knife.

Logix doesnt make a taper top 45 or 90 corner, we usually just leave the corners as is, however if you really want the extra 'bearing' with the p.t. to concrete connection then you can easily take a hand saw and carve the corners to make custom taper tops.

The question is do you need a taper top! This is typical in-experienced or un-educated drawings from either your engineer or as seen from an equal architect. You didn't elude to either a basement only or a full home? Either way a taper top is irrelevant, in either application the joist or the truss runs perpendicular to 66% (avg.) of the exterior walls which means the rim on the floor is not bearing any ways, and a truss has no rim bearing. On either of the paralleling walls, i.e. the floor joist needs a crush/squash blocking between the rim and the first joist which negates his reason. As far as the gable trusses go(full home) a vertical block (16" 2 x 6) per vertical cord will transfer the weight of the foam to the concrete. If your talking full home you should recess the top plate in to the forms anyways which eliminates the need for a taper-top form
