We're doing ICF wf geothermal radiant heat floor system, etc, have significant window sf, and wondered if you all had recommendation of manuf. or type of windows best suited for this building. Main objective = low ongoing cost & repay of initial investment over shortest amt of time. We're in West NC, its 108 degrees today! We get @ 3 wks of freezing weather/yr, this is unusually hot for us..

Hi Mark,

Any problems or additional cost getting Parent's products into the U.S.? With the strength of the Canadian dollar this year, Parent is probably getting more USD's for their products as well. Thanks for any insight.

Not a problem with thier windows, they are US fenestration council rated. Kentucky air labs did all the work. Benjamin, this is a link to them, yes they are very energy efficient 24% higher in efficiency tested ratings than the best Anderson 400 series windows in casement, awning, hopper and fixed. Anderson has little test data on the sliders, so I dont know about them. Parent is a 50 year old company, and the canadian fenestration codes are much more strict than those in the USA. Truely a better window. Worth a call anyway, however not my product Benjamin, deal with them directly. They have good support and are easy to deal with, costs are about comparable with the anderson 400 series with shipping as well.

If you are looking for super efficient windows, check out gorell

They have a new line of triple-pane krypton gas filled windows that are rated at an R-10 insulating value.  This is a local manufacturer in the town that I live in.  They ship their windows all over the world.  I am in the process of purchasing 22 windows for my new ICF construction home from this company.  Their prices are unbelievable.  I am paying a little over $300 a window for a standard size double-hung window.

If you are near Western Pennsylvania, they have a showroom just outside the factory in Indiana, PA.  They have been really easy to work with.  They currently have the contract for a $1 billion dormatory building project at IUP (Indiana University of PA).  All the new dorms will have Gorell windows throughout.

If you need a contact person just let me know.

Further to your choices I would like to add Heinzmann windows from Germany. They are super strong and energy efficient to a factor of u-value 0.28. Tested in Germany and by an independant lab in Florida this efficiency factor includes not only the glass but the frame as well. Go to www.europeanwindows.com If you have further questions I can answer them for you in private e-mails.

Has anyone had any experience with Polaris windows? With their triple pane they advertise a U factor of 11. They also use a foam in their vinyl for insulation. I am curently waiting on a quote so I have no idea of the cost yet.
