I am interested in knowing if anybody else who visits this forum is going to be attending this year. I will be there again because I love 22 miles of exhibits everything concrete.
If you are a woman in this industry I suggest signing up for the Women in Concrete Luncheon and Forum. This is it's 3rd year and should be the best one yet. It has sold out the last two years and even though it was brand new there was excellant information shared and great contacts made.
Hope to see you there.

Was planning on it, but getting "too much" work and so maybe maybe not.
But might wear my dress and see you there.

I'll be there, if you miss a year, you are a year behind the times, so much new stuff and information.
No matter how busy I am, I make it down, even so much as one day flying out at 7:00am and returning home that same night, makes for a long day, but keeps me informed as to what is happening and where we are going.

Kevin...too busy is a good problem to have but I have to agree with Chris and I for one don't like the idea of missing out on what is happening in our industry. We go for the whole week and still there is not enough time to do and see everything we want to see and do.

Just for clarification purposes....is this the show you're referring to?
WOC 2008
Is there a general rule (or specific for that matter) here that you're not supposed to post links to info? Just curious.
Do a lot of the contractors here attend these shows or is it more of a waste of time (in some people's opinions)?

JamesInCa,
Having experienced the WOC for several years I find it extremely informative and productive. I have taken many classes through the WOC and though some were tidious most were worthwhile. The contacts made over the years are invaluable.
I think what it really boils down to for me is my attitude and my motives for going. Every year I attend I find myself attending for different reasons. One year it may be to take classes and the next to meet up with clients and act as a tour guide. I know many individuals who are connected to the industry in one way or another and we all get together. Gravel and ready mix companies, rental companies, GC's and sub's, concrete polisher's, flatwork people, pump companies, etc.
I would encourage attending and if you know someone who has been before and is going again ask to tag along. Make sure to visit the outside exhibits and watch the demos. The people in the booths inside and out are there to inform you about their products or services and most are happy to simply supply information...no hard sales necessary. I also find being able to see in person what is talked about on forums like this priceless. Every year we go specifially to meet the needs and do recon for a project we have coming up. We have never be disappointed and look forward to starting the year out with renewed love of everything concrete.

My Daughters father in law is in the final stages of cancer so we have had the Grand children and I am not as young as I use to be so it is hard to keep up with them. We got a brake this last week as my X and her husband took them for a few days, but they are back this week and until we go to WOC. |

Dear Cattail Bill,
I am sorry to hear about your daughter's father-in-law. My sister died of ovarian cancer in November after a 21 month battle. She was able to be at home surrounded by her family. Bless you for taking your grandchildren.

Wear a red carnation in your lapel so I can spot you. Fortunately I don't have to hang out in a booth this year...I get to travel 22 miles of exhibits unencumbered with no strings to tie me down. Wednesday is a good day for me to try and find you. Do you have a set time you must man the booth? Let me know.

ICF gal:
No set time to man the booth. I am easy to find, I will be there all day wednesday, anyone there will point out who I am, or can find me quickly. Look forward to meeting you. About the red carnation, I will try to find one on wednesday morning, however no promises. If not, look for the 6'4" guy who looks out of place with the rest of the people there.
