Is anybody using a sprayer or pressure pot to spray exterior coatings on ICF's ? If so what product are you spraying and what brand and model sprayer are you doing it with? How many coats and do you still need to hand trowel it?

We use Techni 100 from master paint. The following is a step by step on how we do the job.

1. Rasp the surface.

2. Fill any voids larger than 1/16th, useing the product but we thicken it with extra sand to create a paste consistent with dry wall mud.( do not use foam on this it will expand leaving you with bulges every where the voice of experiance).

3. Apply the fiber mesh and use the Windlock trim tac to hold it in place .

4. Spray on the scratch coat and trowel it in we use a Graco RTX1500 tex sprayer with a 15 gal hopper, this can also be done with your typical $70.00 texture sprayer that is available at most construction supplie outlets. This is much slower but will work and is fine for just doing transitions.

5. After a 24hr cure we apply the topcoat, the finish is up to you, your imagination is all that will stop you here. Simply adjust nozzel size and air pressure to change the effect.

We have created some very unique styles over the years, but the most unique we have done so far was on a dentist office where we sprayed a 3/16" layer and used a 3" pvc coupling to leave overlaping impressions in the surface, kind of like using a cookie cutter. We have also used a 3 finger garden rack and randomly dragged it through the fresh topcoat and then knocked it down, this also was a nice look.

I looked at the photos I have but they do not show the character.

Cattail Bill, I googled "Techni 100 from master paint" and can't seem to find the product. Do you know if they have a website, or maybe the company name is slightly different?
