Question. What should be the footing size for our soon to be house. The house will be 2 story with full basement in Wisconsin. Soil(psf) is 2000. ICF is 6" for all levels.
Thank you all for answers!

When I build a 2 story with full basement all ICF I build 8"x24" footings with 2 runs of 15m bar(#5 I think). This usually works for me all the time in Ontario. I would imagine the local building dept. can let you know the size regarding your soil conditions.

Most block makers include footing width tables in their engineering guides. These tables are usually based on the Prescriptive Method for ICFs in Residential Construction, Ed 2 or the International Residential Code. Two 6.25" blocks I looked at showed 20" and 21" wide footings for a two story above grade ICF home on 2000 psf soil. And this includes the foundation walls. Refer to the tables for the block your considering. As I learned this gets you in the ballpark, but if any question about your soil strength, consult an engineer or your local building inspector. 20" x 8" or 10" thick if you use dowel pins.
