After helping a friend build his ICF walls, he had pieces of block he wanted to dispose of. Hate to see it go to waste, so I'm considering using them for the following (probably more applicable for DIY):
1. Insulated enclosure for our well head in which we could place the pressure tank. Use a light bulb to keep the interior above freezing. Just have to plan on extra bracing.
2. Have a small house we currently live in with a partial crawl space. I'd cut the ties and glue the 2.5 inch panels to the block stem walls and seal off the crawl space. We're in a not so humid part of Kansas.
3. If we have sufficient leftoevers we could insulate the partial basement concrete walls.
4. Create sound soaking panels for music or theater rooms. Cover with cloth or paint/coat with textured paint or plaster.
Any other ideas out there?
This can be a worthwhile effort if you can get the stuff free, but note it comes out to $1.64 per SF if you were to buy the panels. When you include both the interior and exterior panel, i.e., 4ft x 1.33ft = 5.32SF x 2 = 10.64 SF. At say $17 per block divided by 10.64 SF, you get $1.64 per SF. Dave
