Hi All

Helping a friend who will be building a full ICF home. I was wondering what system is used to secure the trusses to the exteriror walls. I know of a sill and toe nailing. Does anyone use a specific Simpson Strong-Tie Rafter Tie of some sort. Also is it installed during the concrete pour or post installation.

model # and any help would be great

Try Simpson 'TSS'

Wet set or set in place before placing concrete

Ideally, the wood truss should not be in direct contact with the concrete.  I believe treated lumber or a piece of galvanized metal should be used between the truss and the concrete wall unless the metal fastening clip makes the separation.  Toe-nailing a wood truss can weaken the bottom chord.

Here's a truss tie we're considering for our home in Kansas due to the winds we experience.  We plan to wet set them after carefully marking locations.  They will handle the uplift and eliminate wood to concrete contact.

ICF connect can also be used as a hurricane clip.
