Hi,
the info on the Durisol website suggests attaching Simpson nail-stop plates to the block with long screws or nails that penetrate into the core. after the pour the screws/nails are locked in place. I understand this part. What I don't understand is how strapping is then attached to a nail-stop plate and with what sort of screw? I must be missing something.  Or is there a better way?

Hi Chris:
There is a better way for sure. What I have done in the past is (I assume you are using some sort of siding):

1. I apply the strapping directly to the Durisol using a combination of construction adhesive (PL Premium) and coarse thread screws.
2. Put Tyvek/building paper over the strapping .
3. Put the siding up over the tyvek. Make sure to use a little caulk/sealant behind the screw against the weather barrier so that the holes don't leak.

This is the fastest and easiest method. With the combination of screws and adhesive, it is impossible to pull the strapping of the Durisol. I have tried other methods, but like this the best.

Another option is to use an ICF with full height attachments.

Actually, Durisol allows for "full height" and "full width" attachments (you can attach to any point on the surface). The reason for the strapping is good building science to allow an air space and drainage plane behind the siding.
