I'm doing research into building icf basement in San Rafael CA. The basement dimensions are 26' x 20', so it is a small basement under the addition we are building. Are icf a good choice for a small project like this in a temperate climate?
Thanks in advance!

ICFs originated primarily with basements and moved to above grade as well. The ICF path will provide you with the best basement in any climate. You will need to finish both sides. E.g. stone, brick, EFIS, stucco etc. on the outside and sheetrock on the inside. If you're in a area where fire is a problem (sorry i did not look up San Rafael, CA) you might consider going all the way up with the ICF. I've seen a picture or two when the ICF house is the only one remaining on the block. Regards.

This would be a nice start if one has not done icf yet. It would also enable you to bid one more component on the job. I'd defenetly go for it. As texasicf mentioned, icf's are great in any climate.

I am in the process of building a house in Santa Rosa with a walk out basement, my ICF's go to the gables. If you'd like to talk to me about my project or even take a look I'd be happy to have you visit.
