I'd like to apply thin brick veneer directly to the interior side of Logix ICF using lath and mortar. Is sheetrock still necessary for fire resistance? Thanks.

PlasterMax is great stuff. We're looking forward to using it on some school projects.

Is PlasterMax used as a mortar for thin brick?

Contact the manufacturer of the veneer. They may have a system that has the required fire rating. It will have to have been tested and have an ICC report.

You can purchase thin brick panelized on cement board panels, and I believe they are fire rated.

Of course the scratch coat and thin brick veneer would be a 15 minute fire barrier. The problem is unless someone paid big money for the testing your local building official may not let you use it.

Thanks Brad, that's what I was thinking. I was hoping there might be some sort of prescriptive path or established fire resistance standard for mortar + brick.

What I will do on my own house, is not ask if what I do meets the requirement for the fire-rating, I will just do what I want. If you ask, they will take the most extreme position.
