Jim:
Ive only received a preliminary drawing and the connection method isnt spec'd
The joists are 19 3/8 " OC , I wonder if screwing to the imbedded fastening strips would be sufficient?
Perhaps if a section of 1/2 ply was imbedded in the foam first?
Peter
Are you going to have any ceramic tile or stone on the floor? If so, consider asking your engr to go to 16" spacing. I built my ICF house using 9 1/4" by 2 3/8" I-joists spaced 16" oc and Advantech 3/4" subflooring. My greatest spans under tile are only about 12' or so and the floor is rock solid. One of the building suppliers I talked to while getting preliminary cost info said the 9 1/4" I-joists are such a high volume commodity item they were by far the least expensive ones to use, inexpensive enough to easily justify 16" spacing. I used 12" spacing under the Jacuzzi and showers for added rigidity. Just like Jim, I just put one of the joists as close as possible to the end wall. Plenty rigid without going through the hassle of fastening to the end wall. 1" to 2" of subfloor overhanging the end joist is no cause for concern. Actually, I used 7" LVLs under the showers to give me depth to pour a mortar base and be even with the bathroom floor. I have curbless showers.
If you go to johnbridge.com, a tile contractor and DIY forum, you will find heavy emphasis on making sure the floor is rigid. At 19 3/8" spacing you'll need to go to a thicker subfloor to keep deflection to a minimum. You want to be sure to pass the 'china closet test', i.e. have the floor rigid enough that you can jump on it and not hear the dishes in the china closet rattle!
