Sorry to post off-topic, but what is the big question mark in the yellow circle to the side of some of the posts? I have looked and have no clue where to find this info. Thanks JDC |

It is a, "Select a post icon to help classify your topic." Next time you make a post, notice the option up near the top that you can select.
I now have a question for you. In another post about CMU, you said you'd never make a 6" wall below grade full height wall even if the numbers worked out. Was that about ICF as well as CMU?
Thanks, Bruce |

Thanks, Bruce. Yes. for 6" wall, solid concrete, (usually 5.5" actual), backfilled full height, it's just going to make it easier to work with 8" If a short wall, not fully backfilled, it is probably OK, But for the difference it cost, I made mine 8". Have an engineer look at it for you and see what the numbers are.

Jerry, The 6'' is the most common core we use and flies by no problem for strenght. However every situation is different. Water pressure, bad soil, height of wall etc. will direct us to a thicker core. Also if it'll put the owner mind at peace well i'd say that's a small price to pay for mental health. |
