Hugh, I'm glad you got me to looking at anchor bolt prices. It turns out that a nearby Lowes carries the 5/8"x10" galvanized bent anchor bolts and their price is less than half of what Fastenal wants. Usually Lowes prices are significantly higher than the other options around here.

Fastenal 5/8"x10" plain bent anchor bolt = $59.25/25 or $2.37 ea.
Fastenal 5/8"x10" galvanized bent anchor bolt = $5.40 ea.
Lowes 5/8"x10" galvanized bent anchor bolt = $2.47 ea

The Lowes galvanized anchor bolts are only $0.10 more than the plain anchor bolts from Fastenal. I guess I'll be using the galvanized anchor bolts after all since it only adds $5.00 to the total project cost.

As Arkie mentioned another option for anchoring the trusses to the top of wall is to eliminate the wood plate and set the trusses on the concrete with wet set hurricane straps to wrap around the truss.  You'll need to place roof felt between the wood and concrete and measure your truss placement real well.  Or...

Use a Simpson Strong-Tie bracket with a metal plate the truss rests on and keeps it from contacting the concrete.  Still need to measure well.  Here's the website http://www.strongtie.com/products/c...AL-TSS.asp
