We're looking for anybody willing to do a walkout basement in NE NC.  The basement is a 72x30 rectangle with one internal wall.  The last 14 foot will be under a covered porch.  The basement has a garage on one end and walkout across the back.  We are planning to build on grade and build up the front and right side with excavated dirt from our pond.  So far we've looked into superior walls and got an estimate of $18,000.  This doesn't include excavation, gravel and slab.  After reading some of the comments on this thread about SW and ICFs, we'd like other estimates as well.  We've gotten one poured concrete wall estimate at $55,000.   We've thought this was pretty high, but have nothing to compare it to. It's been very hard to even find a contractor with basement experience in our area.  zip 27935

Is there a greener/better/cheaper way than SW???  I don't want to have a debate about SW being inferior walls - I've already read that post...

Better than SW?- yes I know there is, but it must not be cost prohibitave!

Thanks!
Sara
