Well after a long fall of weekend warrior working, my wife and I are almost ready to pour the walls. We poured the footing and a 4 foot crawlspace (6" Logix) earlier in the fall and are just finishing up the small stuff on the main 9ft walls this wknd on our cottage and attached garage. My question is, if we're pouring in temps between -20 degC (-4 degF) and -5 degC (23 degF), what do you guys recommend for a 'top' on the walls after we pour. My nephew said bats of pink work well. I presently have the whole thing covered with poly to keep the snow out and I'm wondering if that might be better, than laying pink insulation on top. If the poly is reasonably snug, there would be a lot less air infiltration than with the pink and with the concrete creating it's own heat, I'm wondering if that might be the way to go. Either way, how long do you guys recommend waiting before roofing. Is 3 - 4 days sufficient to allow to set-up. Thanks for the replies, Greg.

Greg - we typically lay a 2x10 on top for the first 5ºc below zero. After that put the fibre glass on and the 2x10.

Normally leave it two to three days but if it stays really cold, ten is better.

As far as the strength goes, a couple of days cure time is fine for a roof, if you are careful. If you are going to have some moron set the completed roof on with a crane and he will let it drag on the walls, better wait at least ten days.
