I am posting this as I have a beef with a certain distributor supplying non-spec top of wall tape to a newbie.
Story: A friends step-son calls up to rent our 32 M boom pump for an ICF wall pour, his first. No problem for the pump, but I want to make sure he is on path, as he is a plumber by trade
and has only taken the installers course. He has been around construction his whole life and is competant. Turns out he needs a couple guys to help with the pour...no problem.
It was a busy Driday and the pour goes for 2:30. My guys are onsite, lining, bracing since 12.
I arrive late and am looking at the wall, and don't see any brown tape ??
The tape supplied was transparent packing tape, low strength easily torn.
What a DISASTER !
A simple job of removing the tape right after the pour turns into an 8 man hour frustrating PIA drudgery.
The supplier did not tell the customer he was substituting...WTF...I would have gladly made a run to another distributor to get the proper stuff.
I hope this Innovative distributor sleeps well at night.

I used clear packing tape for my pour, it worked very well. It only split in one or two places. The concrete icecubes this created popped right out, and I had it all stripped off in about the same ammount of time it took me to apply it... This was 2" Duck brand tape from the Wallmart, with two strips applied, overlapping in the middle across the top of the ICF interlocking teeth which probably made it a little stronger across the top... Same tape i used to hold the foam bucks in place while the foam gliue cured...
