Greetings to all. The purpose of this post is to introduce ourselves, Insula Building Systems and our new ICF product insulaform. I want to be sure to stay within the forum rules, so I will refrain from posting any links or detailed product information - but we are excited to join the GBT community and work with you towards building better and more sustainably.

Sure, I'll elaborate a little bit then. Our system is of the knock-down variety and was designed to reduce some of the most common headaches encountered by builders with just three simple components: our standard panels, heavy duty ties, and "straps". The panels have no plastic embedded in the EPS, so they're lightweight and easy to transport, store, and cut. Please feel free to shoot me a private message with specific questions, or I can point you to our site.

Somewhat similar to the Green Block G-Block with a touch of Quad Lock thrown in. Pricing will be important. Bold move with the way the market has eaten icf manufacturers. Is it manufactured on the island or in eps valley in Mass?

Indeed we took inspiration from different sources, including on site experience at many ICF projects. I won't get into specifics, but all components are manufactured here in the US. Speaking of which, happy July 4th weekend to all!

Just a quick update, we recently added some content to our technical library on the site, including more detailed product specifications and a brochure. The next step is to upload some instructional "how-to" videos, so stay tuned and send us a note with specific questions or feedback.

Can't talk to the nature of your product, but you when you have a few dollars, you may want to look into getting some SEO (Search Engine Optimization) help for your site. You have a rather nice Wordpress template, but searching for you name in Google has you in fourth and fifth position. Make sure they know how to do structured data for WP and how to help write your copy for maximum SEO impact. Good luck with your new venture!

is it possible to use your system with 1 side of foam and the other plywood or similar, with the intention of using it for a swimming pool?

My thought is to use something like this to provide outside insulation (and a form for pouring) and use the thermal mass of the concrete to maintain better temperature of the water. I think buildblock has a system for this already, just looking at alternatives.

Thanks for the question. At this time, the system was not developed or tested for that specific application. However, I will note that our plastic ties run nearly the full height of each panel (just under 12 inches) and are particularly good for fastening materials. So if you were to assemble insulaform blocks with EPS on just one side and insert the ties, you should be able to attach a piece of plywood very easily. Send me a PM as we would love to discuss your project in more detail.

You should also take a look at the Nudura One product as an option.

Thanks. I found Nudura's product as well. My project is at least a year or two out, but I was just doing some basic research at this point.

Berky,
We just used Nudura One on my project. I was changing ICF thickness from one floor to another and used the wider thickness of the lower floor as my ledge for setting floor joists. Needed to eliminate the interior foam to allow for enough bearing surface. It worked out well.

Bumping our thread to the top to announce that we will be exhibiting at the 2017 New York Build show at the Javits Center in NY. There's nothing quite like seeing a new product in person, so if you're able to make it next March 15-16 we would love to introduce you to our system.
