Are there any stud finders that would work with the plastic ties in ICF?

So you're talking in existing, covered construction?

IIRC, most of the webs are every 6-8 inches

If you have existing attachments in the wall and a leftover piece of form, you can use that to measure.

Walabot doesn't work.....got one and its a no go....also tried 5 other different stud finders with no luck.

Best option is to measure off a corner and hope the forms weren't cut and spliced....that will throw off where the plastic ties are.

You can also use a magnet to find a dry wall screw or look for nails in the trim.

Most stud finders work by detecting a change in density. A very good quality stud finder of this type might detect the plastic webs, but I have yet to find one. However, I have a magnetic stud finder that will find the fasteners used for hanging the drywall and it works very well:

CH Hanson Magnetic Stud Finder

Of course, you first need to initially measure and mark on the drywall the plastic web locations before hanging and fastening it. Most plastic webs are either 6 or 8 inches apart depending on ICF manufacturer. Some ICF manufacture's (e.g., BuildBlock) have extra strong sections in the webs and we like to fasten to these specific locations when possible. So a magnetic stud finder will find these locations too.

My Hilti PS38 will find them, but for a one shot deal on your own house - $1,000 tool might be a bit too much

My cheap stud finder can locate the webs in my house (built with Nudura). However, I suspect it is actually finding the metal pins on the web hinges and not the plastic ties themselves. I can move the stud finder horizontally and not find anything, then try again a few inches up/down and picks it up no problem (the metal pins do not run full height of the form).

Not sure if this helps you....

My cheap unit seems to find them in our Fox Blocks. Once you find one, the rest are 8" apart in my walls. Oddly enough, the stud finder doesn't seem all that reliable at finding the steel studs I used for the interior walls.

Magnetic stud finder CH Hansen. Works good and typically the drywall guys usually hit the webs, unless you have an installer just stack it without lining them up.

Could be a common seam that doesn't web out but teethes out. If so it might be every other 16-18" that they line up.

I have this recurring idea to embed a metal track at picture height so I don't end up with dozens of screw\nail holes over time. Like embedded in the drywall and\or ICF just enough so it doesn't show and I can use a magnet to hold up normal pictures.
