After the tornado in Kentucky, my cousin is now forced to rebuild. I have talked to him about using ICFs and he is interested. One person I talked to today mentioned that one client was told there was a 31 week lead time on forms. Is thereanything to this claim. What lead times have you been seeing on what brands? |

If ICF blocks have a long wait time, then your cousin may want to consider other alternative building systems with resistance to termites, storms, etc. Contact me if interested in building with materials other than wood. By the way, I don't sell anything, not even my time. That is one of the advantages of being retired. See my contact info in my signature below. |

Some manufacturers have experienced problems sourcing raw materials through much of 2021. These issues seem to be unique to a given manufacturer and/or geographic area. I would recommend they contact a few dealers of various ICF brands and I am sure they can find a more reasonable lead time. The good news is concrete and rebar don't seem to be in short supply so if you get your ICF forms you have all 3 components of your exterior walls. Compared this to wood frame walls where you have the potential for delays with many more unique building products (ie, dimensional lumber, OSB, insulation, poly, tapes/sealants, etc.). |
