Hi folks, I am a homeowner who doesn't have any construction experience and would love to hear your thoughts on this topic. I have been thinking about using ICF for my basement underpinning project. After learning and researching a lot about ICF, I can't find any prior underpinning projects using ICF, nor am I sure that this idea is feasible. I have a few questions: 1. Can I use ICF blocks for foundation walls in a basement underpinning project? 2. Before pouring concrete into ICF blocks, can I not do bracing from the exterior side? since I want to save the work of digging the outside. 3. What other issues do you foresee I need to consider? I am in a small town in Ontario, Canada, I might hire a concrete contractor to help out but I can't find anyone experienced in ICF construction. Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I think typically you need good access to both sides of the ICF wall, especially for waterproofing and shoring up the ICF. Your best bet may be to reach out to an ICF manufacturer.
