As the title suggests, we're looking to retrofit our current home. I've run the numbers for building new with ICF on a different spot on our property. 2 story - basement as living space with an above ground level. Not feasible cost wise. During a hurricane our mobile home had tree fall on the back side and land on the peak. Most of the damage was to the wall and spots where limbs came through the roof. The home is roughly 28 by 42. We'd like to make it a 42x42 square. We'd like to use the existing I beam flooring structure (raised to create a taller crawl space) and ICF walls. We'd like to bring in a third I beam structure for the expansion. I realize we'd need a foundation for the ICF and run ICF under the I beams as that support as well. It maybe we'd just need to demolish and start over. As we aren't finished paying for it and insurance didn't come anywhere close to covering repair we're in a pickle. It was suggested we could more easily get a loan for the retrofit and perhaps see credits for greenbuilding.
