A recent article in Journal of Light Construction by a Timber Frame Builder spoke of problems related to SIPS being degraded by carpenter ants.  Has anyone else heard of this problem?

Do you know if they were eating the OSB or nesting in foam?

The builder did not specify how the ants damage the panels.  An additional problem he quoted was running utilities.

 

the only article that I found was from 1989, I know that OSB sips are available now with Perform Guard® EPS or (borate) which provides resistance to termites, but I do not know if anyone is producing a panel with treated OSB?
It was a good enough reason, among others, for us to switch to steel SIPs, with borate treated EPS
