Hello Jay, My panels fit together very well and I would use this company again. The plant did have a rep also come down and oversee everything as well as hands on. As far as special attention on things it very important to have your drawings complete and follow them on the outside shell. Many stick builders modify the house as needed to compensate for errors and mistakes. With SIPS, you must have a square foundation and I mean very square corners. Everything transfers up. Also be sure to follow the electrical drawing in the sip walls and prewire the corners of the house. I put in a couple of extra wires in each corner for just incase and did need them in two corners.
As far as getting estimates, yes I did from several companies and when you get to the final stages of the purchase you have a panel contract that gives you the amount the check is written for. This is a very important step & anyone that can't do this stay away from unless they have a real good reason that you agree with. I also had another drawer do up my house which I should have looked more for one. It does not seem to be a big problem for any of the panel companies to panelize any house plans you have but keep in mind that you can do a lot more with sips than you can with a stick house so dare to explore and ask why can't I do that.
Now as far as the other company in Florence you had a question about, well since I became a born again christian I don't talk like that anymore. If you send me an email address I will answer you questions outside of this forum, flaming is not allowed.
Now to everyone else who reads this I want to say thankyou for all the great questions and answers. Many of you have helped me and I sincerly do want to say thanks. My house was destroyed during a storm in August 2005 and the road to recovery has been long and difficult but thanks to you guys and this forum I found out about sips and now my house is about to become a home again.
Thank you and may God bless you all,
Sam Ramsey
