Hello everyone...
I am in the final stages of design on our new house, and it's time to settle on a SIPs product. I was hoping for a Urethane product, and I know I don't want OSB. So, I've been looking at alternatives.
The interior of the house will be sheetrook, and the exterior will be spray acrylic stucco. Well, that, or perhaps the traditional three-layer stucco, if need be. I was hoping to use SIPs for the roof but it's a hip roof, and it's a bit complex.
I was interested in the Fiber-Cement SIPS, but it sounds like ThermaSave is a bit unreliable.
The house will be in eastern-central Virginia, and I discovered ThermaSteel is manufactured about three hours from here. Their stuff looks interesting. On their product though, there is no "skin" on each side. It's exposed EPS in a metal stud frame (well, kinda). Should I be worried about this? Anyone had any good or bad experiences with ThermaSteel?
I suppose, in the end, the most important thing is to find a good, experienced crew here in Virginia who can come in and erect the panels. My builder can then pick up from there. Any suggestions?
My guess is that finding the right help may drive the panel decision, but as I said, I am dead set against using OSB.
Thanks....
Pi
