Hello Folks, has anyone used a system like the polycore slap floor system.  It looks interesting.  I would still have to put radiant heating on it somehow but I like the idea of it being cheaper then concrete and it looks like it would be easy to install without any skills - which I'm short on.  It's R18 as well.  I haven't got a quote yet but I think I'm gonna get it priced out to see what it comes in at.

The foundation systems also looks good, although I'm scared of anything without concrete in it for a foundation.

Regards,
Hick

Hick,
You might want to check on the suitability of using Expanded Polystyrofoam (EPS) in direct contact with earth. Extruded Polystyrofoam is commonly used in direct contact with earth (blue Dow Styrofoam). You might also want to check out the use of steel studs, even though they are galvinized, for contact with the earth.
Research everything you you see!!!

It looked to me like a concrete perimeter and then EPS slabs with embedded steel studs lying on the ground?? But, it doesn't look like the steel comes in direct contact with the ground. How do they fasten them together? Adhesive?

They claim to be very popular for new construction in Canada.

Isn't it pretty standard to put a layer of EPS below poured concrete slabs now?
