Hey I just learned about this company.  iSips BUILT looks like they are starting to build SIPs for the south east coast.

  SIPs are really catching on!  website is isipsbuilt.com

It appears that this company will be making SIPs with the choice of OSB or fiber cement skins.

Some day soon I would like to see a permanent way to treat OSB so that termites can not feast upon it.  Does anyone know of an answer to this problem?

Alton,
Are you familiar with the TimberSil treating system? (www.timbersilwood.com)
I wonder if it would work for OSB?
Look promising for other wood products.

Wes,

I have seen TimberSIL dimensional lumber products at trade shows.  As I have written in this forum back in January 2008, the treated wood looked so good that I could not believe it was treated.

I just now sent an e-mail to this company asking if their product line included TimberSIL treated OSB.  I also asked them if any SIP companies were using TimberSIL treated OSB to make SIPs.

I plan to post their answer in this forum.

I would be very interested in using OSB SIPs if I did not have to worry about termites.  So far, my use of SIPs has been limited to metal skins.

I know there are companies that spray treat all wood in a home while it is under construction to protect from termites and mold but my understanding is that this treatment is not permanent.

Wes;

it appears that it only protects the surface of the wood, leaving the cut edges unprotected.

in the late 70's there was company that was taking old plastic milk jugs and somehow infusing the liquified plastic into the wood fibers in a PT Tank.
It looked like a great idea and was supposed to be termite & rot resistant, the wood had a satin finish and was still light weight.
Don't know what ever became of that?
