I want to build a small earth shelter home. I am thinking 20x48. With a shed style roof, this should allow for 6 8x24 foot panels for the roof. Being so simple, what am I looking at for cost? I see a lot of price per square feet but I can assume they have a bit more complicated roof. This is a simple as it gets.

SW Michigan I should clarify, the reason for the 24 foot panels is I would like to span front to back with no interior load bearing walls.

Ok, I can get back to you on Monday.  Our company makes sip panels in Grand rapids, Mi. and ships anywhere.  No sip panel will span 24' so you will need a beam at least to carry the load.  If you wish send me a sketch so I can price correctly.  Thickness?8",10,12,?, spines?  foam, osb or 2x material?  We also send the screws, bits, sealant and sip tape.  em:[email protected]

I guess I was under the impression that it would span 20'...if it won't then I might look at some other options.

Not true.......... we have spanned 24 ft many times with 6" panels, depending on your snow load you may need to go to a 10" or 12" , but definitely can go 24ft.

what is you snow load?

Osb sheathed sip panels on their own will not span 24' unless you install lumber in the panels. Right now I'm working on a project on the lake shore which requires 3-14" lvls at 4' oc to span 21' due to the 70# snow load.

I know OSB SIPs will not span that far, however our panels with no additional support  will make the span......  a 12" @ 24ft will support 55# per sq. ft.

Your panels plus tax and delivery would be $7378.34 based on a maximum live and dead load of 84# per sq. ft.  It would include sip tape, screws, panels and sealant.  Splines would be double 2x12s at 48" oc supplied by you.  A panel layout drawing would also be included.

Thanks
