Hi, we have SIP roofing panels that have splines on each end and a support board in the middle (24" o.c.).  Prior to purchasing the house, there was a small roof leak that we asked the sellers to fix.  The roofer put two new OSB boards in place.  Now we are in the process of re-roofing the house and at a skylight there was a large area of rot, so the roofer cut out a 4x8' section of the SIP outside board and re-attached a new OSB board.  I just wanted to make sure there are no structural issues doing this.  Is this the typical approach for replacing rotted boards?  Thanks.

rfleege;

There is a possibility of a structural issue, a structural componenent should never be altered with out consulting an engineer.

how did he reattach the new OSB section?  You cant just nail it to the splines, it needs to be glued to the foam, using the appropriate glue.  I would contact the SIP manufacturer.

The 4' wide panels have a structrual spline at each end and then in the center (24" o.c.). Is there a big structural difference if the new OSB section was not glued in, but instead just nailed down around the edges and then in the center of the panel? What glue is best? I'm trying to figure out who the manufacturer was, as we just moved here not long ago and the house is 20+ yrs old.
