It seems that furring strips behind wood siding is a good idea.  Vertical siding would call for horizontal furring strips.  This seems counterproductive since the horizontal strips would not allow gravity drainage behind the siding.  What is typically used in a situation like this.
Thanks,
Brett

In the old days (did I really say that?), we cut saw kerfs in the back side of the horizontal furring strips to allow the water to drain. Today, I think I would look at some of the fiber mesh products available. I understand that the 'Cedar Breather' product from Obidyke is quite expensive, however there are other similar products available to consider.
