That is contrary to how we are told to calculate spans, I don't argue that some of what you say makes sense that at some point consideration should me made for the extra panel length, but it is not done that way.

Why do you suppose panel manufacturers do not address the issue?

Most metal SIP manufacturers have not addressed this issue because their panel products are usually used in a low slope roof configuration. The metal panel industry engineering has not caught up with the actual use of the product. There should be notes regarding roof slope for span tables. Also, manufacturers have not addressed this because it gives their panel product a greater span ability and they are not keen on limiting that.

I don't think it is an overlooked condtition, this practice is not limited to metal SIP manufacturers, it is common practice to measure spans in the horizontal plane for many building products including old time rafter spans,

Chris do your panels have a corner panel option? if not how do you typically handle a corner.

no corner panels, I am guessing you mean wall corners? 2 ways:    mitered or a butt corner that is much stronger...
