Thank you to all who contribute to this site.

Does anyone know of any manufacturers of concrete skin SIPs? I am not asking about Shot Crete applied after the EPS form is inplace. I am specicfically asking about a ready to install Concrete SIP just like metal skin and OSB skin SIPs. I am not interested in Magboard or any other such material made in China. Not prejudiced, just careful and have read about the Chinese method of negotiating (sell it now and we will work out the details and problems later).

Richm,

Yes, there is at least one company making a sip with concrete skins.  I believe that I have seen more.  Here is the link to the most well known company that has been producing this type of sip for a number of years:

http://www.tclear.com/sips-housing-...e-sips.php

Uses Util-A-Crete skins with extruded polystyrene (XPS as opposed to EPS).

Also see:

I have not used it yet but I have examined it several times at the trade shows.  I do not believe they have approvals for ProTEC roofs yet.  My knowledge may be dated by now.  I would expect to see some more of this type at the World of Concrete in Las Vegas in January 2012.

I have used SCIPS (shotcrete type) and I would prefer not to be on the crew next time.   A lot of hard work for an academic like me.

What you asking for sounds like tilt up concrete walls with a foam core. Thin concrete would require fibers for flexibility, more like fibercement SIPs.

Just curious - why not use spray on concrete (I'm still trying to find out why it isn't more popular).

Alton,
Thanks. I read that site and it appears they are manufactured in OH. Interesting. I will contact them.

Jonr,
Thanks. No shotcrete for me and no foam the wall. Experienced, certified, licensed contractors are required to achieve a correct wall. They tend to be few and far between! The person I am researching this for wants something light, bug, rot, and water proof. And with polyurethane foam.

Anyone else know of any manufacturers who use Utilicrete or equal with polyurethane?

Thanks,

I do not remember seeing concrete skins over polyurethane.  I have seen ICF with polyurethane instead of polystyrene.

Thank you for the help. I just went thru my hundreds of "favorites" again and found some.

I think most of them are now using cement board as an alternative, maybe not so much a year ago.

Eco-panels: been to their factory and have seen their product in OSB - precise, very well made, good people, overall excellent to do business with; one of the past GBT contributors built a home with them this past year.

Murus

Thermocore

Sip Supply shows they have them on their site but are they still in business? I did not call to find out.

Any others?
