My wife and I just received our CO on a modern SIPS house here in Va. Quite pleased with all of the process with the exception of the SIPS company, Suretight, in PA. While initially they appeared responsive and above board, they quickly withdrew support once we received our precut SIPS. We spent several thousand additional dollars remaking 10% of the precut SIPS due to poor manufacturing quality and control. Our "representative" told us a "new" cutter was on the job and then offered absolutely no recourse or help. We want to warn the building community of our experience...be careful!!

Contact SIPA and report your issues, then contact the BBB, then the AG and then get a lawyer. That's my 2 cents...

Thats too bad, I consulted on a sure tight job that shipped to Tarpon Springs, FL and was impressed with their package and how accurate it was on a very complex house

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with the product, rest assured it was because of a "new" cutter. I used to work at suretight and if you just got your house that means Jim schmucker himself cut it...so the info that your rep told you was right, he just didn't tell you it was one of the owners. The reason he was cutting all the jobs is because they only had 2 employees left...there used to be 10 employees including myself. The last time I was there to visit the 2 guys I worked with for years were telling me Jim didn't calibrate the saw so it was cutting all the panels 1/4 to 3/4 of an inch off, they told Jim and he said to send the panels out. Long story short schmucker custom homes failed and the shipley's bought the buisness from Jim but they put him in charge at suretight and the last I heard they are filing for bankruptcy. So again, I'm sorry for your job being messed up and I know the employees are sorry also, but having 2 guys doing the jobs of 10 and being yelled at by Jim to get the jobs out doesn't help quality.

This sheds a lot more light on what is going on. This is sad to hear, I've seen many of these SIP companies come and go. When you get into these alternative building methods, many of these companies are here today and gone tomorrow, especially in this economy.
