Looking to build an approx 32 x 48 detached garage, concrete slab in the Dallas, TX area. Buddy of mine with SIP's experience in FL has me thinking of using them for this project. Since it's a detached garage, R value is interesting, but not as important to me as it might be for a home, and appreciate the quicker build time with SIP's. With the above, in general, is a SIP construction really that much cheaper than a tradional stick build given it requires a specialized build skill and I'm not looking for an R value payback over time? Do any SIP Mfr's take plans and essentially create a takeoff "kit" of sorts? Thanks for the feedback, Charlie

Thanks for the replies. I see both recommendations are for Metal SIP's. My HOA won't allow a metal building, I'll have to Brick and Stone the exterior of whatever I put up. Can you do with that a Metal SIP and/or is it cost effective vs OSB (or something else)? Thanks, Charlie

Charlie, My HOA won't allow metal buildings either, but they do allow Structural Insulated Panels, my home is the covington , all are steel inslated pane homes and commercial buildings in this link , many in deed restricted developments
They can be covered with any type siding, stucco , brick or stone Metal SIPs Buildings
