Jelly, just as soon as the owner/ builder sends me more, the floor panels run lengthwise supported by steel I beams on piers, the house faces Lake Michigan , it is just a box with flat roof , owner ordered matte black skins and is using as the finihed exterior, will post more as I get them |

Flat roof as in completely flat? That seems like a terrible idea in that climate. |

I love the idea of building it on piers and using steel SIPs for the floor, too. It's truly like a beer cooler. Chris, do you happen to have details of those connections? |

Hey Chris, I'm in the beginning stages of a very similar home just north of Chicago. It's a 40'x80' minimalist/modern home; a single-slop 4:12 roof with a 10' wall height increasing to 13'. I'm considering Butler, Muehler, or General Steel for the pre-engineered framing and then would like to use SIP wall and floor panels. I'll be sure to give you a call on Monday. What town is that home in? |

syedkarim,
Lake Leelanau near Taverse City, you may not need a frame, unless you are trying to free span the structure.
the foot print of my own home is 48' x 60' (no frame) 4/12 pitch starting at 8 ft. increasing to 16 ft. / look forward to your call |

Hi Chris, Would you mind posting some pictures of your home? It seems you have already built what we are planning on building. Correct: We're hoping to free span the whole structure. Syed |

Syed, we are 48 ft. deep (longest roof panel is 26'-6") but not free span, we have a ridge beam with some internal bearing walls and beams never exceeding 12 ft. spans and built in 2001 to withstand 140 mph wind loads |

Could you please tell me if there are any big manufacturers of SIP's, I can't seem to find any online. I did read that SIP's are still in their infancy, would you agree? Thanks, I hope to hear back.
