This photo taken this morning shows no frost on the right roof due to heat loss and the roof on the left is a 6" SIP Roof system .....

Chris,

What city/building climate zone is that in? A 6" EPS SIP would be R-24 and would not even pass 2006 IRC/IECC ceiling code R-Value which is R-30 for Zones 1-3 and R-38 for Zones 4-5.

With 2012 IRC/IECC requiring R-49 for Zones 4+ how would one deal with that since a 12" EPS SIP is only R-48?

Lbear,
they are different Georgia is 2012 IRC and Florida is 2010 FBC
the house on the left is my own, but both houses where built in 2001 under the 1997 SBCCI code , with minimum ceiling insulation @ R-19
a 12" SIP is R-52
