entire second floor system hanging off (in shear ) 26 ga. skin

So the entire floor will be supported by just screws into 26 gauge sheet metal?

if that is a question, the answer is yes

the question was where did you pull out the 200 Lbs? an attachment point can have 2 screws or more

We were discussing the sound clips which attached at 48" intervals. The manufacturer stated that the single screw attachment point needed to have the higher rating. 25 gauge was the minimum and 22 gauge was ideal. That is why I stated the sound clips would have to be doubled up with shortened intervals, 12" or 24" oc instead of 48"

Design Load Maximum for Wall or Ceiling Application
2:1 safety factor 2.5:1 safety factor

you attach to a 20 gauge hi-hat furring strip , then you have exceeded the requirement

Shieldy, I am just a homeowner who has both ICF walls with an INSULDEK roof and a metal SIPS on top of the ICF with SIPS roof. Your question about noise performance seems to go unanswered. I can say from my personal observations as I have both ICF with INSULDEK roof is by far quieter than the metal SIPS roof. My INSULDEK roof prior to the SIPS build was so quiet you could only tell it was raining when you looked outside, I will say you could hear thunder but very muffled. My SIPS addition is not so quiet, and I have stated in an earlier post there is a constant “popping” coming from my roof when the sun is out and I have been told it was normal expansion/contraction of the SIPS panels. Honestly it’s bothersome to me and had I to do it over again I would not do SIPS panels. Again I am not a contractor just a homeowner of both and you should make an informed decision. Hope this helps.

I have heard that both OSB and metal SIPs having some noise - I think its because the component it only inches thick instead of a big attic air space , before I roof over mine I am going to use steel furring and make an inch and half air space with plywood attached and the screw my five V crimp roof to it

Lbear, remember the 26 gauge sheet metal is not supporting the floor system all by itself. The sheet metal is a component of a structural insulated panel.

each "connection point" at each joist - 5 - #10 x 3/4" sms into 26 ga. having over 2,000 lbs of shear value per rim track/joist connection that only required 770 lbs.
