Are SIPs economical compared to regular stick frame in the Houston area?

It all depends what is important to you for comparison. Note the stick house still got blown down (albeit it stood longer than the straw one). Perhaps we need an update to include other construction methods (but I doubt the SIP lobby is as well funded as the brick one). Good luck and watch out for the wolf.

I think it is in any area, average cost of walls & floor is $4 a sq, 2-3 days labor to finish dry in.

Super insulated

you make your own comparison from there

if you mean cheaper, the answer is no!
they are more energy efficient than conventional framing and tests show about 3 times stronger than frame
to an experience framer the assembly is quicker than frame, but there is a learning curve for anyone, but many "do it yourselfer's" have successfully assembled SIPs
