I am looking at building a house out of SIP panels from SIP Team USA. The house is 2200 sq ft and I was quoted $77517.00 dried in including glue, screws and delivery. Supposedly everything minus windows and doors. Comes out to $32 a sq. ft. Does this seem right. I think it is very high seeing the threads on here. Thanks

What type of SIPS did you have quoted? Where are you building. I hear they had some problem jobs in Florida when the codes changed in Florida. Some of their jobs had to be handed off to a Florida SIP manufacturer. Does it include a basement, the roof, how thick of panels? Can you post a pic of your house or the floor plan?

Chris, we are sorry, about the Industry Park photo. My advertising folks were instructed to obtain a photo, in the public domain, of a Permatherm built building.
Obviously they screwed up. Not Permatherm and not in the public domain. Our apologies. We messed up. The photo has been removed.

peterbauer,
How can you possibly claim "Resistance to Air leakage and Thermal bridging"? Thermal bridging will ocurr at every location of every steel column through the steel colum to the exterior or interior along with huge amounts of air leakage per the statement made in your video something like "the panels will shift inside the steel I-beams in the event of an earthquake". I tried to stomach your web site but could not get all the way through it.

dwill223,
No matter where you are building please do your Due Diligence to save yourself from a lot of headache, heartbreak, disgust, embarrassment, legal hassels (basically all the horror stories you hear of building a home). Research, research, research; go look at the factory producing the panels you want to use. You can make a fun family overnight trip!

We are proud to say our SIP panels are from www.permatherm.net No one better .................. Check them out.

Regarding Thermal Bridging
In a 3 story 3000 sq. ft. building structure the structural steel columns make up about 3.5% of the total wall and roof area in sq. ft.
We advise the steel I Beam flange be covered with Two to Three inches of either Polyiso (R7.0 per in.) or Thermablok (R10.3 per in.) on the flange surface.

Regarding Air Leakage
The point at which the SIP comes in contact with the steel I-Beam we add poly spray foam to insure no air leakage.
A blower door test is performed to detect air leakage that may need correction with additional foam.

Regarding a firm Mechanical connection between the metal faced SIP and the steel I-Beam.
SipLock has a patent pending 10 gauge metal Z clip which fastens the SIP and I-Beam together with steel drill screws into each.

Earthquakes are dangerous.
Should you experience an earthquake and are in a SipLock Moment steel constructed building your chances of the building falling down is greatly diminished.
Go on the Google and find Steel Moment Framing. What's better than steel moment framing in an earthquake. Moment steel framing is supposed to flex, not break and return back.

Hope this helps. Incidentally, steel moment framing is used every where you want structural integrity. Ride by a steel building while the steel is going up, you will see moment framing.

Peter, If you had built it, sold it or even knew where it was, but you do not have a clue! It is not even a PermaTherm Panel Job! if not removed by Saturday it will be in the hands of the attorney
