Hi Everyone,
Long time lurker. We are getting ready to build a house in southern PA. I have an OSB SIP quote from Murus and one other large vendor.
We were about ready to pull the trigger until I saw an old thread about Cement Fiber SIPS. Considering we plan on a stucco finish, this might seem like a good option for us and due to less finish work might be cheaper too. This is not a Cement SIP, but a SIP made with a fiber cement board rather than OSB.
Most threads or articles discussing Cement Fiber Board SIPS are 10 years old and most of the manufactures links go no where and are presumed out of business.
So if anyone knows of a currently operating supplier of a Cement Fiber SIPS can you please post contact info?
It would be great if we can get a current 2016 list of manufactures.

ecc11213, I have installed fiber cement SIPs, on one occasion we got rained off the job and one panel was left on the wet floor overnight. The next morning when we picked of the panel the fiber cement skin was soft and pliable like putty. having built in Florida for 32 years I have used a lot of stucco, one thing for sure stucco is not water proof it is in fact porous and lets water in. I think that stucco over fiber cement is a bad combination |

What brand was used for that job? The few companies I found online use Hardi exterior board or the generic equivalent. I've left that stuff on a wet concrete pad/floor and never seen it turn to a putty. But its good to keep in mind if I can find any manufactures still selling it. I'll need to extra homework on the exact fiber board they use. |

The manufacturer is in Florida, that's all I will say. I think that it is pliable when wet because of the cellulose content < |

I was hoping for names of companies for me to contact. But perhaps your referring to Innova Eco? There the only ones I found that actually advertise fiber cement sips. If not, please provide a name. I want to explorer as many vendors as I can. Vague ominous references aren't very helpfu.l Iit looks like your associated with a steel SIP provider, so perhaps this is just FUD, in which case I'll just wait for others to recommend some companies to explorer. |

I am personal friends with the owners of manufacturing plant and am not going to point the finger specifically at any one company, you will need to do your own "due diligence" in the matter. At least you are aware that it is a potential problem. |

It seems there are no large scale manufacturers of SIP's, would you say this is true? It seems SIP's are still in their infancy. Thank you, hope to hear back.
