Hi,
So Im new to this forum and site. Im located near Palm Springs, am a military vet, and my home recently burned to the ground in March. Before it burned, it was a fixer upper and I replaced all windows, did radiant barriers in the attic, whole house attic fan, etc, but it wasnt enough. I was researching how to make homes energy efficient and thats where I came across all sorts of opinions on the matter.
So now Im looking to rebuild after this disaster. Now I have a chance to hopefully make the right choice in making a new home energy efficient, using net zero energy or passive house methods. I came across the SIP panel forum and did research on OSB vs Metal vs Polyurethane vs EPS, and it seems like everyone has their own opinion on whats better, but a lot of the sources are dated by years.
I want to know your opinions as to what is better. Im also looking for an architect and builder who is knowledgeable in building energy efficient homes, not just the bare minimum title 24.
So, who can help? And thanks in advance, this is all new to me and Im still trying to learn and am eager to learn. Thanks and God bless! |

Welcome to the forum. I built my house with steel SIPs. I think there may be a source in California. |
