another weekend...got the last loop under the living room floor pexed. plated and r20 batted. replumbed all loops to a common header and reduced over 100 foot of pex that was just ran all over the crawl space..
water at 105 and this morning the house was warm (20.4 C at table) and it was -14 C outside....
OUTDOOR RESET-- i thking that is next..takes so long...amazingly long...to change the temperature in the house....Sayturday it went to plus 2 C and the house got quite warm in afternoon....
next debates:
1) do i really need to get the thick plates??? i do want to lower my water temp. currently at 105 for staple up. pad regulated to 85 degree feed. need to compare costs .yet to find a Canadain supplier????
2) storage? - need to understand the gains / losses of maintaing 120 gallon storage? larger storage means less machne cycleing but increased requirement for heat transfer close to set point (time)...as larger storage????

the heat loss of large storage is related to the surface area of the tank only.
if you can heat the house with 105 degree water and the slab is not "swinging" (too hot with each cycle, too cold, or both), I would consider that quite adequate. Find a temp you like and leave it alone.

well, i have had to raise the temperature to 112 degrees to keep the living area warm (staple up area)
the pad area stayed warm but it is the den. the wife will NOT move to the den... it was -25 last night....but the house was warm this morning.
maybe the heavy plates?
maybe more attic insulation
