Good thought.  I nailed down CPH early this past summer.  Seems to be working good for us this heating season so far.  I have 2, 2, 1 set.  I recently considered 2,1,1 but thought that allowing only 1 second stage cph might bring on the 1 aux cycle (if needed) if the second stage cph has already cycled (that is, if below my aux lockout temp).

I did some experimenting with "Less Agressive" and "Standard" settings with our Honeywell.  As an option, you could try 2 cph, but try "more aggressive" if uncomfortable before deciding to try 3 cph.  I just looked it up in a VisionPro 8000 manual - this setting "Applies to recovery ramp and use of auxiliary heat". OOOHHH, someone tell stuart.wyss.  I assume less aggressive would allow more of a temperature swing before the aux goes on.  But I digress.  As you know, even 3 cph would be better than 4 for less starts, so you could always compromise there.

Then comes OCD Guru?
