I will keep everyone informed as I move through this process and appreciate all of the insight and help shared.  You are AMAZING!

I will frame this for my wife who asks what I'm doing for hours on the computer...... :)

Just had my Geo Unit looked at by a new contractor.  He looked the whole thing over and stated the heavy vibrations the compressor was putting out was not acceptable.  We will be getting a new compressor.  He has had one vibrate like that before and the compressor didn't last longer than 2 years before it broke off its discharge tubing.  I will follow up after installation and deliver a final report.

I would certainly for check warranty on that compressor if you have not already done so.
Also make sure that refrigeration system "clean" for the new compressor.

Was your issue ever resolved, and how?

Same symptom may not mean same problem Greg. Why not offer some information (including age of unit) and we'll try to help.
Many posters never return to tell us how things worked out, which denies others useful information. Bear that in mind and share your outcome with us once we get there.
Good luck,
Joe

I am sorry for not replying with the solution to my issue.  That was poor manners.  My unit runs anywhere from 72-76 db.  I was told this is normal and to get used to it.  So that is what we have done.  My daughters room is at 56 db.  From all of the charts I have read this should be a safe noise level for her so we have left her in the room for now.

The other 3 people in my neighborhood who have the units are running at about 65-68 db so their units are quieter but i guess I have a cranky one!

I am sorry that you are experiencing loudness as well.

When building in for future buyers make sure you have a sealed off quiet room far away from any bedrooms and living space that you intend to use.  That way you will be satisified with your decision to go geothermal.
