What is needed in this dark field is lots of people posting complete numbers on installs, and on annual BTU/$$$ numbers along with how well they all hold up, what issues all are having, what systems are working, etc.
In a nutshell,
Useful numbers must include heat load, price/kw and set point and heating degree days.
As has been said repeatedly each job is extremely specific and can't be guessed on square feet alone.
I recently gave a customer a "guestimate" based on info provided by web and a comp house. After the heat loss was performed we found we were nearly 20% off. Given that I have a bit of experience here I still make no promises without my due dilligence (a manual J load). Good news for the homeowners who require 1 less ton (a savings of thousands).
Point is you can look at what others save, but there is no substitute for custom calcs on your home.
Install cost matters as well and varies wildly.
"Systems that are working" are those installed by competant contractors. Brand/type is of little consequence. How they hold up? Better than gas or oil appliances.

I am the author of more than one tirade here. A few of which I may wish a handled differently. I haven't been run off the site on a rail yet........but the night is young-LOL. Some of your questions sound more accusatory than simply skeptical and will necessarily offend those who install geo for a living or who spent 10s of thousands installing it.
Not to worry, I have found that my occasional flare-ups are eventually politely ignored when I keep my nose clean for awhile. ;)
